Under the Weather

“I hate being sick, I feel like a superhero with no powers.” – Unknown

How’s your mood when you’ve been feeling sick and under the weather? Recently, I’ve been dealing with a nasty little cold bug that’s been hanging on for dear life. My energy’s been low and although I’ve been allowing myself some grace, I’ve also been a bit critical, from the lack of getting things accomplished.

When I’m sick, my mood and energy level is generally temporarily on the rocks for a quick day or two, but this time it hit me much harder and I’m headed into an extended period of feeling not quite right.

I had several meetings to attend virtually and some in person that were canceled. I heard from a handful of people that had experienced the same bug commenting on it lasting for weeks … super awesome, UGH!

Nowadays, when people hear that you’re sick they openly or secretly freak out. I started feeling off the evening I had earlier in the day been watching my grand daughter. I was also scheduled to watch her four days later. I was feeling a bit anxious about calling my son, and wanted him to keep an eye on his daughter in case she came down with the same cold.

He was very gracious and said that it’s gonna happen. He made me feel at ease about the situation and I was thankful it didn’t include any distress. The last thing I wanted was to cause my grand daughter to become sick.

Although, I’m feeling much better, I’m not 100%. In the meantime, I’m listening to my body and allowing it to heal. I’m resting and staying hydrated, getting more sleep, drinking an herbal tea concoction, getting out into nature when possible, taking in vitamin D from the sun, meditation, and soaking in Epsom salt baths. I’m trying not to be critical of tasks left undone or taking longer to complete.

I’m allowing myself grace, and trying to keep my vibrations and energy up. Although I’m still feeling a bit under the weather, I’m getting better everyday. I’m listening to my body and providing what is needed. Do you treat yourself with care and listen to your body? I’m learning we all deserve to give ourselves tender loving care whether we’re sick or not. “Let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world.” Napoleon Bonaparte
