The Month of Me

Are you currently making time for you and giving yourself some much needed love? I’ve been on a mission to love myself for a while now, and even though some days I may not always get it right, I’m about a million times better than I was before.

I was constantly making sure everyone else was taken care of and leaving just the scraps of energy and love for my own needs. I’m learning by taking care of myself first provides the space to give to others out of love rather than guilt or obligation. Realizing this was a mic drop moment for me a few years ago. Actually, truth be told, it floored the hell out of me.

Although my journey will never be finished, I’m walking the path to my own healing. It started by taking small steps toward me and for me. I’m constantly learning new ways, trying them, and deciding which ones I’ll keep and which ones I’ll leave.

One thing I know to be true about my journey, is I need a community of like-hearted people to walk besides. A support system of sorts that gives me a sense of belonging. Not only does it provide emotion support and well-being, it gives me the assurance I’m not doing it alone.

Along with my group of close friends, I belong to a few communities that support and cheer for each other. During this month, one of the groups I’m a part of created: 31 Days of Amazing Practices. The group is committed to using the month to up level our self-care practices and make caring for ourselves a priority.

Although I’ve been doing daily practices for a long time, doing it with a group helps me focus deeper and creates a sense of community. I want to show up for them and I want them to show up for me. I’ve you’re interested in becoming part of a group you create yourself, with me, or with another community, I believe you’ll be glad you did. This is the month of me, but also the month of you!
