Catch A Shooting Star

Earlier this week, I was in Fondulac, Wisconsin spending a few days with three girlfriends. One of the women had invited us to her beautiful summer home on Lake Winnebago. It was almost near impossible for the four of us to come up with a few common open days on our schedules, but grateful we did.

We had no real plans other than friendship, fellowship and fun. We’re like-minded women, all on our own spiritual journey yet walking beside one another for support. They remain part of my tribe and know I can call on them if needed.

Once we saw the weather forecast we wanted to moon bath on the dock. We read the weather conditions and atmosphere were perfect for capturing shooting stars and the Milky Way. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy and seeing stars was challenging. We spent hours on the dock talking, laughing, dreaming and holding space for one another as we took turns revealing and discovering our nexts steps along our journey.

At one point I happened to be looking toward the north-western sky and thought I saw a shooting star. I announced to the group, even though I was a bit skeptical since the sky was so cloudy. A few minutes later, looking to the south-eastern sky I witnessed another one and almost didn’t mention it since it might have been my imagination but decided to speak up and one gal witnessed it as well. Phew….glad it wasn’t just me.

We saw star after star go streaking across the blueish-black sky as if by magic. It felt like the universe was putting on a show just for us. We knew the black super moon would be later in the week and decided it would be good to listen to a new moon meditation. We settled into our own world and listened as the meditation suggested it was the perfect time to set intentions. Releasing what no longer served us and inviting in what we’d like to experience into our life. The words were calm and relaxing as my three friends went in and out of a dreamy sleep, but for some reason I was wide awake as if I was meant to hear every word. The wind was blowing gently and the weather felt wonderful on my skin. Looking up at the night sky I watched as the earth danced by and stars twinkled amongst the clouds.

Last night, was the black super new moon or second new moon of the month of July in North America. Even though it wasn’t visible I was out enjoying the powerful pull of reflection and new beginnings. Two of my three friends were able to meet at a random lake between our towns to celebrate new beginnings. By the time we arrived it was on the edge of darkness and mosquitos were everywhere…..ugh.

As we made our way down to the beach area we noticed a gentlemen fishing nearby and we moved away from him and under a tree, directly in from of the water. One of my friends noticed a bat and then another and another. Before we had time to move, one flew right at us as we all screeched and ran….hahaha. I guess they were trying to keep the bugs at bay, including us.

Now, in our new location we talked about the meaning and power of a new moon. Black new moons are said to be more powerful than regular new moons. This black moon is in Leo and helps re-learn ways to express our creativity. It’s also a time for self-love, including all matters of the heart; especially our own. It’s time to stand in our own power.

Upon leaving the beach area, the three of us frolicked through the trees and up the hill, linked arm and arm……laughing all the way. At the top of the hill we formed a triangle, said prayers for our intentions and were grateful for our strength and courage together. Then we all hopped in the backseat of one of the cars, laughing and remembering our experiences at the lake house and about our evening; feeling excited about the powerful new moon. Although we didn’t catch a shooting star, we’re blessed to be a significant dot in the universe of life.
