Burn Baby Burn
In April, I was fortunate to work with two fellow coaches and together we hosted our first women’s weekend retreat we titled, Crazy Blessed. The weekend’s focus was around healing the heart: mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It was a multiple step process that helped the women move through road blocks in their lives. Releasing what no longer served them and replenishing their soul by self-reflection using love and compassion, while surrounded and supported by like-minded women.
One of the challenging steps in the process was to acknowledge and then set free old thought patterns, negative self-talk and self-blame, by purging any emotional ties that keeps our heart captive. Sometimes it’s hard to admit we’re responsible for our own lives and ultimately for our actions, beliefs and behaviors on how we choose to live, but by acknowledging these, the process of letting go has already begun. In letting go and letting God, we experience freedom and our heart opens to inspiration, clarity, direction and love.
Each woman decided what they wanted to release as they spilled their thoughts across a blank page. Once the writing was completed the step concluded with a burning ceremony. The purpose of the ceremony was to shift awareness, becoming still, digging deep, listening to your heart and having the courage to let go of what no longer served you. It’s the familiarity of the old patterns that make it difficult to let go, but once we do, floodgates open, allowing our light to shine.
As we gathered outdoors around the fireplace and lit seasoned wood, we took turns releasing our words, old wounds, negativity and anything we no longer wanted or needed in our lives, into the fire. As we watched our unwanted thoughts burn, release and smoke rise, we read the following together:
Today I release what I don’t want. I let go and let God do the work in this sacred experience. In this, I am healed and renewed. I open my heart to love, and I am blessed with peace, joy, and harmony.
Are you ready to let go and let God? Listen to your heart and release anything that no longer serves your soul. Once you’ve let the negative thoughts go, set them on fire and……burn baby burn. It’s good for your soul.
