A Little Self Love
As part of a recent retreat I hosted with two other coaches, we wanted to include meditation and yoga as an optional early-morning activity. The bed and breakfast we used for the retreat was cozy, charming and had a sunroom that was wall to wall windows. We thought the room had a sacred feeling and perfect to use for meditation and yoga.
Originally, we were going to offer yoga from a phone app through a smart TV, however, a few weeks prior, a fellow-coach had reached out about her friend that was a yoga instructor and thought she would be a good fit for the retreat. At first, we hesitated since we hadn’t filled all the spaces at that time and didn’t think it financially made sense, but one coach felt we should consider it. The sunroom didn’t offer enough space for yoga mats for 15 women, but I learned the instructor offered chair yoga and thought it would be the perfect solution; to confirm I decided to attend her class.
Almost immediately, I knew it was perfect for the retreat. Her lovely words throughout the session spoke to my heart. After class, we met and I described the theme and feel of the retreat and she expressed her excitement of being part of the weekend. Confirming with my colleagues, we decided it would be part of the schedule.
The first morning of two, meditation was offered before breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised that all but two ladies joined us for the heart-centered, twenty minute, guided meditation. Frankly, they seemed to love the experience and was a nice way to begin our day. We shared a beautiful breakfast together before the day’s program began.
The second morning, Ashley the yoga instructor arrived, prepared the room, gathered the women and led a heart-felt, heart-healing class, surrounded by the warm rays of the sun, beaming through the windows. One of the other coaches and I had to sit outside the room since the space was gloriously filled. I was happy to make room for the women that would experience Ashley’s grace and love. I was able to capture a few photos of moments and self-care the women were allowing themselves. Ashley spoke inspiring and meaningful words as Sharon and I participated just outside the french doors; while tear drops fell upon our cheeks. It was the perfect way to start the last day of our retreat. Her words sprinkled love on everyone’s heart.
Once the yoga concluded we finished our programming and then shared friendship along with a delicious prepared brunch. It was a perfect end to an amazing weekend. Giving a little self-care each day is a simple, yet a powerful statement of self-worth. Do something good for yourself each day to show some love; I promise it’s worth the effort.
