What's Working

In last week’s blog post, I asked you to avoid looking through the green-eyed glasses of jealousy and envy and instead see things differently by using the following sentence, “I want some of that.” As a follow-up to that suggestion, this week I’m asking, “What’s currently working in your life, right now?” Make a list mentally, or grab a pen and paper and start jotting them down. You’ll be amazed at how many things are actually working in your life.

Think of as many items as you can, both significant and small, and you’ll instantly feel uplifted. When you’re aware of all the good things working for you, life magically seems a little lighter, and you begin to make a shift. Once you have your list, either on paper or mentally, you can begin to feel appreciation for each of them.

Example of some things currently working in my life:

I have a loving and supportive family.

I have a wonderful circle of friends.

I’m able to take most of my meetings and calls in the comfort of my own home.

My commute is approximately 54 feet or less if I choose to work in my office or at my dining room table.

I have a roof over my head, and groceries in the fridge and pantry.

I’m able to enjoy a good cup of coffee each morning.

My self-care practices help me stay on the path.

My yoga practice is sacred.

My list could go on and on, the bigs, the littles, and everything in between. Don’t allow the negative things to over-shadow the good. Let the gems fuel your fire while you make a plan to improve the things that aren’t working. It’s important to stay focused on the ones that are working.

I invite you to practice appreciation for everything that’s working for you right now. I promise, you’ll start to feel a shift. It’s a simple practice that can begin to turn things around, even if it’s getting you to neutral. Ask yourself, “What’s working for me?” Then start counting your blessings.
