Walking on Sunshine
Have you ever noticed how much better you feel when the sun is shining? When I wake up and it’s light and bright, it immediately makes me feel perkier. When it rains, it has the opposite affect on me and I want to stay in bed longer. In the Midwest the spring season is always a crap shoot and we never know what we’re gonna get. For the last few months, it’s been wet, cold, and dreary. However, over the last week the sun’s been out more times than not, and the weather has been creeping up into the “oh, my gosh, let’s get outside” temperatures. Bring on spring, mild temperatures and new life.
As with relationships and connections, I also feel much better when I’m surrounded by people that are filled with joy. Ones that look on the sunnier side of life and see the positive over the negative. I don’t mean to say everything is picture perfect, but they don’t focus on the bad. Or if they do, it’s only for a brief time. These are the people that lift me up and have a positive affect on my outlook and attitude. I want to be around them and have what they’re having. Basically, I want some of that sunshine.
Being around happy and positive people can:
Energize
Motivate
Encourage
Support
Some people may not like being around positive people and seem comfortable being miserable. I believe being happy or sad is contagious, whatever it may be. If we focus on happy thoughts, we’ll bring more joy into our lives, and in turn if we focus on the negative, we’ll attract more gloom. Which will you choose?
I’m a happy person by nature, but if I’m surrounded by negativity and sorrow I need to be careful not to fall into the trap. I’m sensitive to energy and must pay attention to my surroundings and protect my mind, body and soul. If you’re feeling grumpy, tired and uninspired, I encourage you to find a person that will lift you up and provide support. Jim Rohn tells us: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” I want to be with ones that are walking on sunshine. How about you?
