Let Me Tell You 'Bout My Best Friend

I’m guessing most people would have someone in their life they would consider their best friend. The dictionary describes: “A best friend as a person who you value above other friends in your life, someone you have fun with, someone you trust and someone in whom you confide.” Best friends see you at your worst and your best.

Best friends provide:

  • Honesty

  • Laughter

  • Empathy

  • Generosity

  • Trust

  • Support

  • Loyalty

Recently, I gained a new best friend. She’s honest by calling me out when I need to look at situations in a different light and will tell me exactly how it is. She won’t sugar-coat things like in the past. She’s able to look at me without judgement or criticism.

We laugh often and hard. Laughter is one of the keys to my heart and I’m thankful we can see things in a silly light while being ourself. Belly-aching laughter together is the best.

She didn’t always show me empathy but has turned the corner and I feel her trying every day. She lifts me up when I’m sad and allows my imperfections to shine. She always knows exactly what I’m going through.

She’s generous with my spirit and my mind. It’s not about the material things, it’s about the heart of the matter. Abundance with her friendship is front and center.

I trust her with my life. She knows all my secrets, fears and shortcomings. She would never use them against me, and I know they are safe with her.

She’s my cheerleader, encourager, and will support me through thick and thin. She lets me know my victories and strengths but also holds my heart in defeat.

Her loyalty is unwavering. She has my back no matter the situation.

So, let me tell you ‘bout my best friend. She’s courageous, funny, loving, giving, playful, and a great friend. She’s learning how to love herself most and love herself best. She’s imperfectly perfect and I adore her spirit.

Drumroll please…….

It’s me! I’m my own best friend and your best friend should be YOU! Loving ourself most and loving ourself first is the best thing we can do for our soul and our loved ones. We must love ourself in order to truly love others. By showing how much you matter to you, demonstrates to them how much they matter to themselves too. I am my person. Do you know you are your person too? Get to know you! You are worthy of being your own best friend.
