Happiness Bloom from Within

This week my two fellow coaches and I presented a masterclass as part of our quarterly subscription service box. Each quarter has a new theme and March was Bloom. We shared about self-care being a foundational piece to the process of growing. In addition we presented simple steps to blooming which is what I’ll focus on in this post.

Steps to Blooming:

  • Start small

  • Give yourself permission to grow

  • Get it on paper

  • Schedule it in your day

  • Just do it

  • Celebrate and give appreciation

  • Repeat

Have you ever thought about setting a goal for yourself and suddenly an hour later, you have several new goals you’d like to reach by tomorrow? Start small and don’t try to do them all at once. You’ll get frustrated and will most likely quit. I invite you to take just one area of your life you’d like to improve or bloom in, and focus on that to begin. It may be to set daily intentions in the morning, or 15 minutes of yoga, a daily walk, preparing your lunch the night before, or rise 30 minutes earlier to journal or work on your goal. Try starting with smaller increments and over time work your way to more. Make whatever you choose meaningful and bring you joy.

If you’re anything like me you’re a perfectionist. To make matters worse, many of us are often impatient, and want immediate results. But you don’t walk for six days and expect yourself to be conditioned to run a marathon on the seventh day. Write a permission slip or love letter to yourself. Shower yourself with unconditional love and compassion,. We all need a little more of that from ourselves. Give yourself the grace to grow at a pace that works perfectly for you. Life will be much easier and will bring you more joy without added pressure.

Then get everything down on paper. A list of everything you want to accomplish. Write without judgement. Once you have everything listed out you’re able to see your goals then objectively determine which ones are realistic and doable. Choose the goal that makes your heart sing. No more of “Someday, I’ll...”, because there really is no someday. Someday is never going to come, until you decide that today is the day and every day is the day. It’s time to make a commitment to what you actually say you’re going to do.

Once you have the goal, make it a priority to schedule it in your calendar and day. Create your non-negotiable actions because you are important. You matter, your goals matter so arrange the time and mark them in your week. Make yourself your number one asset. Then, just do it! Even though you may not feel like doing it. Keep your schedule sacred to you. Self-care is the best thing you can give yourself.

Celebrating your victories and celebrating you may be one of the most important steps. We often don’t acknowledge our worthiness. Then repeat again and again. You’ve got what it takes to make your life soar. Happiness blooms from within. Tend and water your garden, then watch yourself bloom and grow.
