By the Light of the Moon

Last weekend I was able to get away with three friends and fellow-coaches: Karen, Cheri and Sharon. Karen had invited us to her vacation home along the shores of a beautiful Wisconsin lake. By happenstance, the weekend fell on a full moon. Whenever the four of us have gathered we’ve always practiced self-care rituals and ceremonies. The full moon allowed us the perfect opportunity for collective positive energy.

A full moon is said to bring powerful energy. It calls us to release any negative emotions, and asks us to take corrective action. One way would be to create a list on paper or in your head of the things that no longer align with your heart, focusing on the things you need to let go of or those neglected areas you need to cultivate.

When researching the recent full moon, one article mentioned making moon water. Moon water? We all wanted to know about the uses and benefits and soon decided we needed to make it ourselves. Before heading to the lake we filled a large glass container with water, and set individual intentions. We placed the glass container in the moonlight to bless.

As we waited for the moon to appear in the eastern sky over the lake, we talked about dreams, accomplishments, goals and such. Then we meditated in the full moon light, taking in all the sounds around us. It was calm and peaceful listening to the water lap against the shore. It was fun to watch the light dance on the water and over the filled glass jar.

The next morning after watching a beautiful sunrise, we brought the moon water back to the house and enjoyed it along with our morning coffee and breakfast. It felt like we were doing something good for our mind, body, soul, and spirit. Plus, I have to admit, it was kinda fun. We drank the moon water until it was complete.

We read the following benefits of Moon Water:

  • Powerful tool for manifestation

  • Cleanses energy

  • Gets rid of negative energy

  • Balances emotions

  • Connects us to the Universe

  • Helps with creativity

Some people love rituals and ceremonies and others not so much. The four of us happen to love them. Whether you believe in the power of the full moon or not, take solace in knowing there is a great big universe out there we know just a little about. There is so much more to discover and spending time with good friends by the light of the moon gives me heart connection with them, myself, and the world around me.
