The Magic of Community
Life isn’t meant to be walked alone. We are wired for connection, for deep and meaningful relationships that make us feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it’s your childhood best friend, a group of like-minded women, a church family, or an online support network finding your people, and your community changes everything.
For many years, I was fiercely independent, priding myself on doing things on my own. I believed I had to be strong and self-sufficient, not needing to lean on others. But here’s the truth I’ve learned: We don’t have to carry the weight of life alone. Finding a safe and supportive community has been one of the greatest gifts of my journey, and I want to encourage you to seek the same.
Life is full of ups and downs, and in those moments of uncertainty, your people will help center you. They remind you of who you are when you forget, offering wisdom, encouragement, and sometimes just a shoulder to lean on.
Growth happens when we surround ourselves with people who challenge us, inspire us, and push us toward becoming our best selves. Whether it’s a mastermind group, a book club, or a circle of strong women, being around the right people expands our mindset and ignites our potential.
Let’s be real. Life gets messy. There will be days you feel completely lost, overwhelmed, or defeated. Having a strong support system means you always have someone to call, someone to remind you that you’re not alone.
It’s easy to find people who will sit with you in sorrow, but true community also celebrates your wins. Your tribe will cheer the loudest when you accomplish your goals, land that dream job, or finally take that leap of faith.
Being part of a community provides a deep sense of belonging. It reminds you that you matter, that your presence in this world is meaningful, and that you are worthy of love and connection.
If you’re still searching for your tribe, know that they are out there. Here are some ways to start finding the community that uplifts and supports you:
Follow Your Passions: Love yoga? Join a local class and meet people who share your interest. Love to read? Join a book club. Whatever lights you up, there’s a community for that.
Be Open to New Connections: Sometimes, our people show up in unexpected places. A chance conversation at a coffee shop, a friendly neighbor, a fellow parent at your child’s school, stay open to forming new relationships.
Get Involved: Volunteering, joining local groups, or attending events are great ways to connect with people who share your values and passions.
Prioritize Deep Connections: Don’t just collect acquaintances, invest in relationships that nourish your soul. Find people who truly see you, who listen without judgment, and who are willing to grow alongside you.
Create Your Own Community: If you can’t find the right group, build your own. Start a meetup, form a support group, or gather like-minded friends for intentional gatherings.
I’ve been blessed to be part of several incredible communities that have shaped my life in beautiful ways. From a few close-knit group of friends and besties who lift me up, to my coaching circle where we encourage one another, to the P.E.O. Sisterhood that celebrates and supports women’s education, my band of sisters spread across the US, and my morning meditation circle; my heart is full because I know I am never alone.
Through every season of life, my people have been there guiding me, holding space for me, and reminding me of my worth. And I strive to do the same for them.
If you’ve been feeling disconnected or isolated, know this, you were never meant to do life alone. Your people are out there, waiting to walk alongside you. Seek them. Open your heart and say yes to new connections.
The love, strength, and magic of community is now more important than ever. Because life is brighter, richer, and more fulfilling when shared with those who truly understand and love you. Here’s to finding your community.
