Showing Up
“Maybe life isn’t about avoiding the bruises. Maybe it’s about collecting the scars to prove we showed up for it” - unknown. Are you showing up in your life for you or someone else? If the answer isn’t you, then who? With this year coming to a close and the next one on the horizon, now’s the time to reflect on where you’ve been and more importantly, where you’re headed.
What does it mean to show up for yourself? Simply said, it means making you a priority. It can be anything that supports your well-being and growth. The key is to find what works specifically for you. Only you know the answer to that completely. Then follow-through regularly, keeping yourself accountable. It may take some trial and error for it to feel right.
Now’s a great time to take stock of your life. What do you want to create, feel, or accomplish in the coming year? Then decide how you will show up. There are many ways to get started. Listed below are a few idea to consider:
Challenge yourself to grow - get clear on your goals and make a commitment
Set boundaries - don’t be afraid to say no, when saying yes doesn’t feel right
Listen to your intuition - what is your heart feeling (not your head)
Take meaningful action toward your goal - follow through (every step counts)
Be kind to yourself - include positive self-talk
Honor your feelings - listen to your body to work through your emotions
Make time for joy - take moments and do what makes you happy
Celebrate you - accept where you are on the journey and press on
Showing up takes commitment and courage. Taking charge of your own life with intention and determination will help drive you forward. It’s time to take stock of your life. What’s working and what’s not, then have the conviction to show up and dare to put yourself first. “Imagine the best version of yourself and show up everyday as her” - unknown.
