Showers of Love

This past weekend, two of my best girlfriends hosted a wedding shower in honor of my son and his bride-to-be. Hard to believe my only son will be getting married soon, as we celebrated together with friends and family. The event was held at a local establishment that had recently gone through expansion and growth, and we were unsure how the new space would work. The day was filled with laughter, happiness, reconnecting of old friends and meeting of new.

As Andrew and his future bride arrived, they both looked happy and excited for the day, and as we entered the room, I was blown away by the thoughtful and stunning display and attention to detail my friends created. Fresh cut flowers placed in simple mason jars running along the length of the table atop burlap runners, along with brightly colored napkins, pictures of the couple in their youth and together, beautiful menu cards and a few other elements. The sweet table was nestled in one corner of the room, the gift table in another and at the far end, a handsome wooden bar ready for our drink orders.

The wait staff and owner were helpful and friendly as they assissted with packages and bags. As guests arrived it was fun to meet and greet each one. It was a day to remember, and would be one that never repeated itself and I wanted to savor each precious moment. I was seated in the middle of the table, directly to my son’s right. It was perfect for the conversations we shared on this heartfelt occasion.

My dear friends thought of everything, and the day ran like a well oiled machine. I was blessed to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the shower. The wait staff treated the guests as if they each were the most important person in the room. I have to give it to my son, he was the only man in site, but seemed right at home, being vastly outnumbered. He was polite, friendly and engaged in conversation with twenty women…..but he held his own….HA.

All in all, the day couldn’t have gone better. Showers of love were sprinkled on our families, as we felt the impact of love and fellowship throughout the afternoon. My son and bride-to be were grateful to each guest that shared in their celebration. Oh, what a day to remember! What special events are you planning? Enjoy making memories.
