Oh, no you didn't

I don’t know about you, but I needed some serious down time after the Christmas holiday. My daughter and her two kitties, Tillie and Leroy were in the house for five days and four nights. I absolutely loved having them home, well…..except maybe the occasional accident my daughter or I encountered. For some reason they loved to gnaw on the artificial Christmas tree branches…..upsetting their stomachs, and no matter how hard we tried to barricade them from getting to the tree, they managed on a few occasions.

Once they left, I was able to focus on two big projects I’d been working on; both of which were time sensitive and I needed to get a-crack-a-lackin. Each project had several parts and I was feeling overwhelmed to say the least but got down to work; going back and forth on the projects to keep from going mad….lol. I was thankful I didn’t have any obligations, meetings or plans.

I’m embarrassed to say but didn’t get out of my pajamas for three days……..YIKES! Truth be told I love when that happens. Day one, I got out of bed and headed directly to the dining room table. Making sure to get up to move from time to time in order to avoid being stiff. Hour after hour finishing sections, sending emails, receiving replies, writing this, creating that……on and on. The good news…..by the end of the day, I was already dressed for bed, no extra effort was needed…HAHA!

Day two was the same as day one…..more project work, emails, responses, editing, resending, writing, creating……on and on throughout the day. On a few occasions I’d take a phone call and admitted the state of my fashion and hair; or lack thereof. Day two I realized I hadn’t even combed my hair, I’m pretty sure I looked like a wild woman. Thank the good Lord I didn’t have to leave the house.

On day three, I was feeling really good about what I had accomplished the last two days but was still on a roll. I had completed one of the projects and made quite a dent in the other. However, unfortunately, I’d been feeling a little off earlier in the week, but had ignored my symptoms. Day three happened to be December 30 and my health insurance was changing on Jan 1. I felt I needed to get to a minute clinic and looked up the nearest location and hours. It happened to already be almost noon and the clinic closed at 2:00 pm with a current wait of 46 minutes and by the time I arrived they may not be accepting any more appointments.

I jumped up and ran to get changed but mid-stream, realized I probably wouldn’t make it in time and it would be a waste of effort……plus I didn’t really want to get dressed……LOL! I had remembered my daughter had taken advantage of a virtual doctor appointment and I thought it was worth the try. YAY….it was. So……that meant I needed to brush my hair and put on a hoodie…..RATS!

I jumped on my computer with audio and video turned on and waited for the doctor to arrive. After answering questions about my symptoms, my history, and facts, he determined I needed a prescription. He’d send it over to my local pharmacy and I could pick it up later in the day. DANG…..now for sure I had to get dressed.

In the midst of getting ready, realized I also had forgotten to pick up supplies for a small going away party I was invited to the following morning. I was responsible for coffee creamer and juice for the celebration….simple enough; I’d get them when I picked up my prescription.

As soon as it was ready I left the house, praying I wouldn’t run into anyone…..please, please, please! My plan was to get in, grab the prescription, creamer and juice…and BOOM get back home. Not so fast! The corner pharmacy/groery didn’t have a single bottle of juice, cream, creamer, half and half or heavy cream! How could that be? It was only two simple items.

Lucky for me, there was a gas station with a market right across the street. Unbelievably, they didn’t have them either. No creamer and only single serve juice……FOR THE LOVE OF. Nothing like having to try and avoid running into people at three locations! My last resort was the grocery store…..I was hoping to run in, grab the two items, pay and run back out before anyone saw me.

Well…..I’m sure you know where this is headed……I freaking saw a friend. I admitted I was hoping not to run into anyone since I barely combed my hair. They thought they’d make me feel better by saying they hadn’t showered until 1:00 PM……..I didn’t dare tell them, I hadn’t showered……LOLOLOL.

We all have days like the ones I experienced. Maybe not exactly the same story, but I would bet the same feeling. Upon reading this you might even say, “Oh, no you didn’t!” But…….I’d have to admit, “Oh, yes I did!” I’m happy to report, I’m back on a regular schedule of getting showered and dressed. Can you relate? I’d love to hear about it.
