Are You Ready and Willing

February 2, is Groundhog’s Day in the US. Here in the Midwest, it’s a day that winter’s end is gauged by whether or not the animal sees his shadow. One dictionary states, “If a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den, and winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early.” In a community an hour west of my home lives Woodstock Willie, the groundhog (more about him later).

However, February 2, has a completely different meaning in many parts of the country based on the 1993 movie Groundhog Day. The main character keeps repeating the same day over and over until he learns valuable life lessons. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” - Albert Einstein

Do you find yourself repeating the same pattern again and again? You and I are creatures of habit and routine. Nothing is going to change unless there is a pivot. For instance, if you want a new job, invest in a new skill. If you want to become a better artist, practice your craft over and over. If you want different results, you have to be willing to try different approaches and ways.

What’s one habit you’ve been repeating that’s keeping you stranded? Are you willing to take small steps toward making a shift? If you’re feeling like you’re in a rut and stuck in mediocrity, nows the time to take stock and then action. What is one move you can take that you know will make a huge impact on your life, right now?

Remember:

Everything matters

Learn from mistakes

Keep pursuing dreams

Take a chance

Make a difference

In essence, the movie Groundhog Day is ultimately about personal transformation. Are you ready and willing to get out of your rut? Set aside your fear and dare to make a change. Your life is incredibly valuable; treat it with care. I’m challenging you to step up to the plate and take a swing at something that matters. Everything matters, let’s go!

PS… Woodstock Willie, the groundhog didn’t see his shadow. YAHOO, an early spring is predicted!

PSS… Happy birthday on Groundhog’s Day to my beautiful and loving daughter-in-law, Crystal.
