And Then There Were Three

This past weekend, I was honored to work beside three inspiring women, for our second in a series of workshops, being held in 2018. The workshop was titled, Choose Happy. Our target audience included women that were inspired to own their happiness, however, three brave gentlemen signed up as well. Of course we welcomed anyone that wanted to join, we just hadn’t thought to market the program to men. I’m not sure why, they certainly want to take charge of their own happiness as well.

As it turned out, our workshop theme color was pink, in which we provided pink workbook folders. At the time of purchase, I decided to get one, aqua color folder just in case the same man from the first workshop signed-up. I’m pretty sure his wife talked him into it, even though he fit right in, was engaged and enjoyed the afternoon. Unfortunately, they were going to be out of town for Choose Happy.

Our first man reached out and paid for both him and his wife. Later we learned, he had been the one to encourage her to agree. Wow, that was amazing. I knew I had purchased that aqua folder for a reason…..ha. Then along came man number two. He, on the other hand, was coming alone. Double wow! Dang, only a couple days away and I needed another non-pink folder. Then we got word, if another man was in town, he would be letting us know at the last minute. OK, this was getting kinda fun, and I wondered what attracted men to our events.

The day before the event, I ended up picking up a couple aqua and a few blue folders, just in case. As the folders were laid out, fanned in neat little rows, the two aqua blue folders stuck out like a sore thumb. Since we hadn’t heard from the third man, we hadn’t put another non-pink folder out on the table yet. The first one walked in and picked the aqua blue. By the time the second man walked in, a woman had already taken the remaining aqua folder, as I scrambled to grab the other colors. I was too late; man number two had grabbed a pink folder, and was already sitting at a table, thumbing through the pages. Just then, man number three appeared as he signed in and was handed a blue folder.

The afternoon turned out to be a day of inspiration and discovery, as people assessed where they were in eight areas of their lives, as well as determined their top core values. There were small group, intimate discussions as well as large group discovery sessions. Everyone was engaged in conversation and agreed if you were living your values you choose your own happiness. I felt blessed to be part of helping people connect to who they are. The audience was mostly women,  and then there were three brave men that trusted to share their hearts.
