An Evening Under The Stars

A few weekends ago, I had dinner with 151 dear and mostly new friends on a beautiful summer’s eve. It was a night under the stars and farm-to-table dinner, held in an opened-roof greenhouse. Farm-to-table dinners are all the rage now and would recommend to give one a try. I’ve been to a few in the past, but this night specifically, far exceeded any expectations.

Upon entering the large opened-roofed green house, we were greeted by a friendly woman, who I later learned was one of the owners. She was welcoming and even took a picture of my group when we asked.  She directed us to the seating list and offered us a glass of wine. The decor was stunning as two long tables stretched across the length of the floor, each table holding approximately 75 guests. The linens were classic white with brown butcher paper spanning the length of each table; beautiful green fern topiaries with twinkle lights and low wooden boxes filled with succulents and fragrant pink and red roses lined the center of the tables adjacent to mason jars each encasing a lit candle. Alongside each place setting was a beautiful place card that listed the name of each guest. The open ceiling had strings and strings of additional twinkle lights providing the perfect evening atmosphere and mood lighting.

Prior to dinner, two handcrafted cocktails along with delicious and bountiful appetizers were served while musicians played and sang in the backdrop. My party consisted of four people which ultimately meant, we each had new friends next to us. The meal was served tapas style and a tasting of each course. Which doesn’t seem like a lot but our bellies were pleasantly full by the night’s end. It was the perfect amount course after course all locally sourced except the salt, pepper and shrimp…haha. That’s what the gentleman from the hosting restaurant told the guests.

As the evening progressed, the owners of the green house/nursery eloquently spoke and told stories either about the family, event, wine or food. They were the perfect hosts, coming around as the guests dined and talked; enjoying the evening with us. For the next few hours, stories were told, new friends were made, great food and wine were tasted and enjoyed. An evening under the stars was not only magical with dear and new friends but local farmers were supported. I love the family was giving back to their own community and I was happy to be a part of the experience. I invite you to find events in your area that support local.
