Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Creating a vision board has been on my “TO DO” list for what seems like eons. For some reason, it always ends up at the bottom of my priorities. I had mentioned the idea to my Sweet Sixteeners, and they all loved the thought of creating these together. One of the girls piped up and mentioned she already had everything we needed.

Once we had our date set, I was excited to get started. I’ve had ideas of what I wanted to capture, actually so many ideas, I am guessing that’s why it landed at the bottom of my list. Simply put, a vision board is filled with pictures, symbols, and words on what you want to manifest in your life. It’s your own personal story, kept visual as a reminder of your goals, dreams and wishes.

Getting started is the hardest part, but my friend had a series of questions to jot down our thoughts, such as strengths, aspirations for the year, and what we care deeply about in our lives. It was the perfect solution in breaking through my cluttered mind.

As we began flipping through magazines, quotes, colors, and assorted art supplies, we each had growing piles of what we wanted to include on our boards. It happened to be an on-and-off stormy evening. About an hour into creating, my friend’s husband announced we may want to go outside to get some inspiration; there was a rainbow…..no, make it a double, we all but bolted out the door!

As we stood in the gentle rain, the sun was brightly shining on the pair of completely full, rainbows. One was so bright, I had never remembered seeing such brilliant colors in a rainbow before. The second rainbow was a duplicate in lighter shades. We began taking pictures, as we stood in the midst of the miracle right in front of us.

As we worked on our vision boards, we talked of what we witnessed together, and felt those rainbows were meant for us that evening. We each needed a different sign of hope, as I assume most people that witnessed the rainbows thought so too. Even though the pictures didn’t capture the true brilliance, the colors are etched deep within my heart. For somewhere over the rainbow, wishes, and dreams do come true.
