Girls Gone (a Little) Wild
There’s something magical about girlfriends, palm trees, and a lanai under the Florida sun. Add a splash of spontaneity, a couple of cocktails, and a night filled with laughter, and you’ve got yourself a story worth telling. Well, let’s just say we added a little sparkle to our usual rhythm.
Recently, I spent a few unforgettable days in Florida with two of my fellow life coaches. We’re not normally a cocktail crew, we’re usually the healthy-ish meals, meditation, journal-before-breakfast kind of gals, grounded in mindfulness and intention. But on this trip, let’s just say the energy shifted just a touch. There was no pressure, no expectations, just the sweet invitation to let go, be present, and enjoy the moment.
It all started so innocently. We were sitting on the lanai, soaking up the warm breeze and catching up on life when our hostess casually appeared with a tray of cocktails, no questions asked, no pressure, just a summery libation in a glass. We all looked at each other, smiled, and said, “Cheers”
There’s something about being together, away from responsibilities and routines, that invites playfulness. We sipped, laughed, and told stories. The boundaries between roles and titles blurred, and we were just three women friends, enjoying the present moment.
That evening, we decided to take an Uber to a waterfront restaurant. And as we were heading out, our hostess smiled mischievously and said, “Who wants a roadie?” We all burst out laughing. A roadie! That playful, almost rebellious gesture sent us into fits of giggles. Of course, we said yes.
The Uber driver might’ve thought he was picking up a group of mild-mannered women, but by the end of the ride, he was part of the party. We shared stories, teased each other, and just fully embraced the ride, literally and metaphorically. He knew several languages and was quizzing us on our knowledge.
The restaurant itself was pure magic. Right on the water, open air, and salty breeze in our hair. While waiting for our table, we cozied up to the bar and ended up talking to the people on either side of us. Strangers became instant friends, as often happens when you're open, unguarded, and everything feels connected, like the universe is winking at you.
Dinner was delicious, but the real nourishment came from the belly laughs, the unfiltered joy, and the freedom of letting loose. We danced in our seats, sang along to songs, and soaked in every second of it.
What made this evening so special wasn’t the cocktails or the setting, though those definitely helped, it was the permission we gave ourselves to simply be. To drop the masks of coach, mom, the steady, dependable ones we usually are, and just live in the moment.
We don’t need cocktails to have fun. And most of the time, we don’t. But this time, it wasn’t about the drinks, it was about the togetherness. It was about breaking the script, laughing louder than usual, and remembering that joy doesn’t have to be serious.
It’s okay to be a little wild sometimes. Not reckless, not out of control, just free. So here’s to spontaneous sips on the lanai, Uber rides full of laughter and roadies, dinner by the water with your soul sisters, nights that remind you, you’re alive, and girls gone (a little) wild. Because fun is part of the healing too. Maybe it’s time to plan a little escape with your soul sisters. It doesn’t need to involve cocktails, but it does need to include joy.
