Ending Strong

It's hard to believe the end of another year is just around the corner and within a few short days it'll be the end of 2019 and the start of a new year and new decade. As you look back and reflect on the year, what comes to mind? What's been most important to you? Even though it's fantastic to set and obtain goals and challenges that have a positive impact on your lie, but without friends and family would it have the same impact?

The last two days was spent with family for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There was nothing grand and extravagant planned but rather simple and ordinary. Exactly how everyone likes it.  Christmas Eve we spent at my brother and sister-in-law's home with simple yet delicious food. The evening was followed by a fun gift exchange then learning and playing a new game titled Codenames.  It took a while to get the hang of the rules and in the process a lot of laughter erupted.

Christmas Day was spent at my other brother and sister-in-law's home. The food again was delicious and plentiful. The gift exchange for the holiday this year involved Christmas Bingo; filling our cards and first person to get five in a row was able to pick a wrapped present. After revealing the prize, the next winner could either steal the gift or select a new one. This went on until everyone had the opportunity to steal or pick a new gift. When more than one person called Bingo, it was settled by the rock, paper, scissors game of chance. What a fun gift exchange! As part of the Christmas Day celebration, my brother and I had planned a little surprise for the group. We made special ice cream drinks our parents would let us indulge in tasting theirs whenever we went out to eat at certain restaurants (brandy alexanders and grasshoppers). For most, this ended in feeling completely full and ready to burst at the seams...haha!

Even though looking back and reflecting on 2019, I would consider this year a significant year of development and growth for me personally, however, sharing and spending it with friends, family and loved ones is what matters most to me. Without their love, support and guidance, it would just be another accomplishment. With friends, family and loved ones by my side, it's ending strong with a sense of knowing what matters most........love. Wishing you and yours a joyous year.
